Giving Back in the Time of COVID-19

UCBR and project resilience

During this unsettling and unusual time, while the majority of the US population has been asked to stay at home in order to flatten the COVID-19 curve and help reduce the spread of the virus, those that are deemed ‘essential workers’ are out on the frontlines everyday helping battle the virus. Right here in Ulster County, we have many essential workers that are putting themselves at risk to help our community stay safe and healthy.

In an effort to both recognize and give back to those on the front lines, the UCBR has been working behind the scenes to help both essential workers and those in need during these uncertain times. This week, with donations gathered from the UCBR Community Service head, Sheena Lepez, the UCBR was able to provide 40 bagged lunches to the health professionals at the COVID-19 test site in Tech City. Lunches were prepared and delivered by Home Plate Deli.

UCBR and Ulster County’s Project Resilience

In addition to providing lunches to the COVID-19 Test Site workers, the UCBR was also able to donate $500 to ‘Project Resilience’. Project Resilience was launched on March 17th and is an Ulster County community based fund that through donations, is helping provide meals to those in need in Ulster County during this difficult time. In addition to providing meals, Project Resilience has also partnered with local municipalities and nonprofits to offer additional services to those in need, as well any small businesses that may need support. They were able to secure two million dollars in funding within the first 24 hours of the project launch.

Donations from our local community are the backbone of these community service initiatives. If you would like to contribute to Project Resilience, please visit their website by clicking here. A full press release from Ulster County can be read here.

To donate to the UCBR Community Service initiative that is providing lunches to the Tech City COVID-19 health professionals, please make checks out to ‘UCBR’. Checks can then be mailed to: UCBR, 74 Broadway, Kingston NY 12401.

Thank you for your generosity to our community during this uncertain time to both our essential workers and those in need. Your support is critical to the success of these community service initiatives. Stay safe and we hope that we will be able to return back to our normal routines in the not too distant future.
