On November 19, 2020 the Ulster County Board of REALTORS® held their annual meeting where officers for Hudson Valley Catskill Region MLS as well as UCBR were announced for 2021. Industry news and updates were covered, and the REALTOR® of the Year was announced! We’re proud to announce the recipient of the REALTOR® of the Year Award is Mary Ann Miller of Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty. Congratulations, Mary Ann!

The criteria for selection of REALTOR® of the Year include four key areas that are reviewed when making a nomination. The award focuses on the 2020 REALTOR® who has shown outstanding service to the UCBR, the real estate industry, and their community. The criteria for nomination and consideration are based on spirit – high principles, faithfulness to the REALTORS® Code of EthicsREALTORS® Code of Ethics, and a demonstration of good business practices with other real estate practitioners and the public. UCBR activity is also considered, including any board membership or participation in activities, special groups, and projects. Civic and business activities are also considered when nominating and selecting a winner, to ensure that our REALTOR® of the Year is more than just an outstanding member of the real estate community, but of Ulster County and the Hudson Valley as a whole.

The meeting also included a review of and a focus on the Fair Housing Act and its impact on the real estate industry throughout our
state and region. Discussions centered around ensuring we’re all following the laws and guidelines, the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, and on working together to continue to improve the home buying and selling experience for all.

The other hot topic that was discussed was the current state of the market and the pandemic. With colder months ahead, and in some regions, virus cases surging, it’s more important than ever to ensure that we’re all following best practices and safety guidelines for ourselves, our colleagues, and our clients. From virtual showings to mask-wearing and social distancing, there are a multitude of new and improved ways to connect with clients while still keep everyone healthy and safe.
