Gardiner, New York

The Town of Gardiner has a long and substantial history. Located at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains in the beautiful Hudson Valley Gardiner offers many amenities for the year round or weekend resident.

About one hundred miles north of Manhattan and west of the Hudson River lies the Town of Gardiner. Established in 1853, Gardiner is bordered by the towns of New Paltz, Plattekill, Rochester, Ellenville and Shawangunk. The landscape varies from vertical rock cliffs and evergreen forests of the Shawangunk Mountains to the basins and broad floodplains of the Wallkill River, Shawangunk Kill and Mara Kill streams

Residents enjoy easy access to the Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains for hiking and camping. The Walkill Valley Rail Trail provides a view of history and recreation. For water enthusiasts the Hudson River offers sailing and wind surfing and for skiers and golfers there are many options. The New York State Thruway and diverse shopping opportunities in New Paltz, Kingston and Poughkeepsie are convenient to residents.
