Born in the Bronx in 1945, not many miles from Yankee Stadium, Manny has always had 3 passions: The New York Yankees, creative writing, and photography. When he was 13, Manny's family moved to the "country" - Yonkers, N Y. Here the family had easier access on Sunday drives to the beautiful, bucolic areas of Westchester County. Then, for a real treat, the Sunday 'road trip' would explore the likes of Lake Minnewaska on 55/44 and the lush farms of Ulster County's 209.. . In 1963, Mr. Vavolizza received a full scholarship to Iona College in New Rochelle where he graduated ranked number one in the English Education Department. His first teaching job (1967) was at Lincoln High School in Yonkers, NY. It was only fitting that this talented photographer and writer was assigned the supervision of the Lincoln High School yearbook - the Lincoln Log. It was here that his passion for writing and photography merged to help his students produce 4 award winning yearbooks.

For the past decade, under the tutelage of a professional Vegas photographer, Mr V (as his students still call him) shifted 'foto' gears forward big time. Visiting his mentor was and is easy since his two elder daughters live in Vegas where they sell real estate for Universal Realty. Manny has done everything from family portraits to model portfolios. He has been published many times. He now resides in Stone Ridge with his wife Sharon and stepdaughter Tonya. Plus, true to form, he has risen to the top once again in another area. He now is President of Board of Directors of the non profit Ulster Literacy Association in Kingston, New York. ULA helps adults who read at the lowest of levels to read, write, and communicate in the English language !
